DIALOGUE EARTH  Featuring incredible photography of spellbinding landscapes  and a soundtrack by the Oscar nominated artist Volker Bertelmann aka Hauschka (Lion, 2016), the Hank Levine directed Dialogue Earth offers a moving portrait of Ulrike Arnold who paints with earth and meteorites from remote areas all around the world, and now travels through archaic, mystical landscapes in the American Southwest, especially the wilderness of southern Utah. Her encounters with old friends, farewells to others who have passed away and the spirituality that Eli Secody of the Navajo Tribe finds in her paintings, lead us to contemplate her legacy and why her upbringing has led her to undergo a lifelong journey of seeking. The day she exhibits her work at White Pocket in
the Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness, Trump announces his  executive order permitting the dismantlement of national monuments, to open up more federal land for exploitation. Visiting the US-Mexican border with artist friend Peter Young, she reveals her plans for her next work: the One World Painting, bringing together all of the earth she has been collecting over the past four decades from all over the globe, as a statement to preserve our unique planet and as an articulation of unity, equality, peace and harmony.
“It comes from within the Earth, spreads out to  the Sun and continues on into space” - Eli Secody
The One World Painting, a giant exclamation mark, shall be exhibited on upcoming Earthdays.

Album of Electronic Music Recalls the Legacy of City of God

Volumes 1 and 2 of the City of God – Remixed, along with the new Volume 3, will be available for the first time in a digital format.

São Paulo and Berlin, December 15, 2018 — To commemorate the 15-year anniversary of City of God, Hank Levine Film & Music will launch a collection of official music from the film on December 7. Volumes 1 and 2 of the City of God – Remixed, along with the new Volume 3, will be made available in a digital format for the first time.

This launch is available through the digital distributor www.feiyr.com which has partnerships with 300 online stores such as iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, Spotify, You Tube, Beatport and Deezer.

The three albums of (Cidade de Deus) City of God - Remixed together form a collection of 53 tracks. The first two volumes, which up until now have been available only in small quantities on Vinyl or on CD, shall now reach a large audience.

The City of God - Remixed features new versions of compositions by renowned Brazilian artists such as Wilson Simonal, André Abujamra, Antonio Pinto and Seu Jorge – revealed in the film. Famous names in Brazilian electronic music are also represented such as the DJs Gui Boratto, Renato Cohen and Mau Mau, among many others.

The film’s co-producer and the producer of the albums, Hank Levine tells us that the project began due to the proximity that he developed with Brazilian music at the time when City of God was filming. “I went out to clubs often and I really like the music here, especially the electronic music. The idea was to use the success of the film as a vehicle to promote these artists internationally.”

Just like the film that inspired it, City of God - Remixed is about love and friendship, loss and conquest, death and survival. These songs touch the wounds of this country characterized by so much inequality without losing their dance rhythms which are so characteristic of Brazilian music.

The styles include Techno, House, Drum & Bass, Chillout, Funky Breaks, Trip-Hop and many others. As an aesthetic resource, excerpts from the dialogue and soundtrack of the film have been added, including Zé Pequeno’s iconic phrase. The sum of these factors offers listeners a vibrant Brazilian environment

“What I most love about these tracks is their uniqueness. It’s worth watching the film to understand what is happening today in Brazil, and it’s worth hearing these albums if you’ve already seen the film,” adds Levine.

The Brazilian artists responsible for the 53 tracks are Gui Boratto, Renato Cohen, Wilson Simonal, Seu Jorge, Drumagick, Patife, Mau Mau, Beto Villares, Renato Lopes, Apollo 9, Dolores, Instituto, Antonio Pinto, Ramilson Maia, Autoload, Mamelo Sound System, Andre Abujamra, Anderson Noise, Anvil FX, Mad-Zoo, Mystical, Black Gero, FLU, Camilo Rocha, Yah!, Paula Chalup, Vidal, Philip Braunstein, Dolores, Edson X, Waterfront, AD,  Daniel Rezende, Felipe Venancio,  Influx, André Andreo, Periférico, and the Germans Meitz and Difusora.

These volumes include the genres of House, Techno, Brazilian, Trance, Chillout, Drum & Bass, Downbeat, Tribal-House, Funky House, Hip Hop /Rap, Jungle, Jackin’ House, Tribal-Techno, Trip-Hop, Funky Breaks, Liquid Drum ‘n’ Bass, Chillhouse, NuJazz House, and Breakbeat.

Dialogue Earth  2020 release

Dialogue Earth is a feature-length documentary, which offers us a moving portrait of the German artist Ulrike Arnold who paints with earth and meteorites from remote areas all around the world, and now travels through archaic, mystical landscapes in the the American Southwest, especially the wilderness of southern Utah.

Her encounters with old friends and farewells to others who have passed away and the spirituality that Eli Secody of the Navajo Tribe finds in her paintings lead us to contemplate her legacy and why her upbringing has led her to undergo a lifelong journey of seeking.

Exhibiting her work at  White Pocket in the Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness on the day Trump announces his  executive order permitting the dismantlement of national monuments, she recognizes that this special landscape is in danger from mining and oil exploration.  Visiting the US-Mexican border with artist friend Peter Young, she reveals her plans for her next work:

To unite for the very first time in one painting earth colors from all the places she has visited over the past 38 years, to create a visual expression of the diversity of the continents and their peoples, as an articulation of unity, equality, peace and harmony.  This statement for the preservation and protection of our unique planet Earth is the One World Painting, scheduled to be exhibited for upcoming Earth Day.
